ERC - 2013 | Round 6 - Geko Ypres Rally, Belgium

Geko Ypres Rally, is the sixth round in the European Rally Championship, 2013 . The historic city of Belgium woke up to the rumble of the rally cars at the service park, and its countryside. The narrow and fast asphalt roads, with corners at tricky places and lined by the deep and grassy drains, makes no room for surprise moves. Not just that, the drains have hidden concrete culverts at places, if upon a slightest moment, can rip-off a wheel or smash any part of the car - with no remorse. The rally is not new to the championship, nor to the competitors. Local talents from here have made it to the top level rallying, for example; Thierry Neuville . In the history of Rally series, European Rally Championship is one major and popular series, which dates back to early 1950's, when the sport was still evolving. With the merger of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge series into the series which has rich history, the glamour of the former series makes it a real treat for everyone involved, actively or passively. FIA brought in the change with the merger to get the costs under control and keep the integrity of the sport as well as to reduce the confusion among both different, yet which were sharing the geographical & competition in each of them.
